12th Annual North Carolina Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Conference
Lori A. Setton, PhD, President, NCTERM 2010
I’m delighted to announce that the 12th Annual North Carolina Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (NCTERM) Conference will be held on November 12th, 2010 at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park. Duke University is proud to be the host of this year’s conference. The annual NCTERM conference has a history of success in bringing together researchers and innovators in academia and industry to highlight achievements in regenerative medicine across North Carolina.
This year we welcome our keynote speaker, Dr. Ioannis Yannas, Professor in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Biological Engineering at MIT. Dr. Yannas is perhaps best known for his pioneering work in engineering bioactive scaffolds for wound repair leading to a marketed medical device Integra for skin repair (IntegraTM). Dr. Yannas has also contributed to scaffold design for regeneration of peripheral nerve, conjunctiva and organs. Dr. Yannas has degrees from Harvard College (BA, Chemistry), MIT (MS, Chemical Engineering) and Princeton University (MS, PhD, Physical Chemistry) and has been on the MIT faculty since 1966.
Please join us to share in the excitement surrounding advances in stem cell biology and therapeutic uses, cell therapies, biomaterials, nano-biotechnology and clinical translation. Abstracts for poster or podium presentation will be invited for review in the Fall. NCTERM conferences are known for their friendly atmosphere of open scientific discussion, debate, and active student participation. We look forward to seeing you in Research Triangle Park on November 12th 2010.
